Brunei - What is Ambuyat and what to see there
country #35
I spent here 3 days in the summer of 2019 during an adventurous journey across SE Asia.
I find Brunei to be a super chill-out place. Its people are really nice and friendly, cuisine is fantastic and the nature is stunning. The prices are acceptable. I felt extremely safe here even when walking at night.
These are the top things to do and see here:
1) OMAR ALI SAUFUDDEN MOSQUE
is considered as one of the most beautiful mosques in the Asia Pacific. The construction of the mosque was completed in 1958. It is named after Omar Ali Saifuddin III, the 28th Sultan of Brunei Darussalam. It is the symbol of this country.

2) NATIONAL PARK ULU TEMBURONG
covers 550 square kilometres in eastern Brunei. Today, only 1% of the national park is open to the public. To explore this unspoiled jungle, you need to be a part of an organized tour. Because of thr remote location, the journey takes 2 hours from the capital city.
3) KAMPONG AYER
is the world's largest floating village, Home to around 30,000 inhabitants. The best way to experience the daily life of local villagers is taking a river cruise.

4) THE EMPIRE BRUNEI HOTEL
is one of two seven-stars rated hotels in the world. Book a room there or just take a stroll around the resort, what I did.
5) TRY AMBUYAT
is a dish derived from the interior trunk of the sago palm. It is a starchy bland substance. Ambuyat is the national dish of Brunei. It is eaten with a bamboo fork called chandas, by rolling the starch around the prongs and then dipping it into various types of sauces.

Another things to do here:
visit Gadong night market, Istana Nurul Palace, downtown of Bandar Seri Begawan, museums,...

Many people who have visited this country say that this place is boring. I don't agree. I really enjoyed my stay here and I want definitely to come back soon.
