Walking from Slovakia to Austria

It was my first trip abroad after the lockdown.  My primal plan was to visit Bratislava,which I did. After visiting all sights I wanted to see (downtown, castle, UFO restaurant, Slovenský rozhlas building,...) I was looking for some more activities to undertake. 
I realized that it is possible to go afoot to Austria. One hour later I was standing on the border and continued walking towards the nearest village of Kittsee. This was my final destination.

Thirty years ago you were not be allowed to do that. There was the "iron curtain" splitting Europe into West and East. Escapees were risking their lives to flee from the communist countries to the West. There was a high risk of being shot. Many people were killed while trying to get to the other side. 

It was a great trip and I am happy for the decision I made. If you have time while visiting Bratislava, this is an inspiration for you and I highly recommend this.
