6 days in Myanmar

30.12.2020

In 2015 I had an opportunity to spend 6 days in Myanmar. In this article I am going to give you some tips what you could do in Yangon and Ngwesaung.

YANGON-population: 5 000 000 people

It is no more capital of the country, but it is Myanmar´s largest city. There are lots of things to discover!

1) Shwedagon Pagoda-one of the most famous pagodas in the world and one of the most sacred temples to the Buddhist community in Myanmar-this attraction is a must when you are in Yangon. According to some, the pagoda is 2,600 years old, making Shwedagon the oldest pagoda in the world. The main gold-plated dome is topped by a stupa containing over 7,000 diamonds, rubies, topaz and sapphires. Visit at dawn if you want to experience tranquillity.

2) Chinatown-located around 19th street in Yangon and this is also one of the best places to not only shop and eat.

3) Sule Pagoda-built 2,500 years ago and is one of the most famous temples in the city.

4) Yangon Circular Train-Taking the circular train in Yangon will get you through local neighborhoods, small towns and local markets. It is the best way to explore Yangon.

NGWE SAUNG beach- Ngwe Saung is a beach resort. It is less touristy and newer than nearby  Chaungtha Beach.  Take a bus to get here. They leave at 6am & 9:30pm from in front of the Yangon Central Railway Station and the duration of the journey is about 5 hours. I really recommend to check this marvelous place out!

Myanmar is an amazing country. Welcoming people, affordable prices, tasty food, stunning nature-so give this country a chance!
